Source: Agoda

Namaste 🙏

Hope everyone is doing great. Today I would like to share my experience in Mansion Hostel so that it helps any fellow traveller looking for a stay in Mandalay, Myanmar.

About the Place
So, I was in the hostel for 2 days and me being not aware much about Mandalay apart from what I have read in blogs, articles, etc., Mansion Hostel gave me a little introduction about the kindness, people of Myanmar have. Mansion Hostel has a great location and views from the rooftop bar facing the Mandalay Palace is astonishing. It’s just 1.1 km from Mintha Theater, a theatre that offers nightly performances of traditional Myanmar. The staff is really friendly and helpful, and they will ensure that everything you ask for, is taken care of with an adorable smile. Their hospitality towards every traveller was overwhelmingly pleasing.

Reception
Mansion Hostel has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and a shared rooftop lounge. Additionally, free WiFi is available everywhere in around the hostel. They also provide airport transfers. You will get a wide variety of breakfast that ranges from Asian to continental. Bathrooms are very clean, and beds are big, comfy, and curtains are there for privacy. Probably the best hostel you can find in Mandalay.

Each room has a shared bathroom with a bidet and a hairdryer. At the hostel, each room includes a seating area. You will find the place quite silent during the night and to view the Mandalay Palace from the roof of the Hostel with fountains all around is fabulous. Mansion Hostel also provides bicycle rental services. The staff speaks great English so people coming from any part of the globe won’t have any issue with regards to language.

Places to explore near the Hostel
Mandalay as a city has its very own pace. Everything here seems to be silent, yet aloud. You can cover a lot of places from Mansion hostel. Mandalay Marionettes Theater, is just 1.1 km and Mandalay Palace which can be viewed from the terrace of the Hostel is also in the same radius. The Cultural Museum and Library is located nearby. The famous Pagodas of Shwe Kyi Myint, Mahar Thatkyarthiha, Ein Daw Yar, Kyauk Taw Gyi can be covered from Mansion Hostel with less than 3 kms of journey. The nearest airport is Mandalay International Airport and is 40 km from the hostel.

Budget
Mansion Hostel offers a very nominal budget for travellers all across the globe. They have rooms such as 4/6 - Beds Female/Male Dormitory Rooms, Deluxe Quadruple and family rooms and standard family rooms. The price usually varies from season to season and starts with 15 USD.

The room where I stayed

My experience
Even though I couldn’t take much pictures of the hostel, the moments captured in mind during my stay will be forever cherished. Before travelling to Myanmar, to be honest I didn’t have the knowledge about the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Myanmar. This journey was an eye-opener for me about Myanmar and how beautifully the country has developed all these years. I am grateful for my friend who brought me to this amazing city and especially to this splendid hostel, giving me the best of the awareness, I needed to know.

View of terrace @night
I could happen to meet some amazing people and also could share some beers with one of them who was from Singapore. We had some great conversations about travel, life and culture late night sitting at the rooftop with the view of Mandalay palace by our side.

I feel one should express their moment of every single joy in their life and staying in a foreign land with some wonderfully kind and helpful people really gives us the motivation to travel more.
Feel free to share your opinions and I would like to hear your stories of travelling as well.
Hope this helps. Stay tuned for more blogs. 🙂
