Kanchanaburi - The Offbeat Splendid Town in Thailand

About Kanchanaburi

Namaste,

On 26th October 2019, me along with my friend, went to Kanchanaburi located in Thailand. Trust me before this trip I had no idea about this place. I am grateful to my friend for introducing me to this part of the world.

We initially entered Ban Wang Pho in the region of Kanchanaburi which is 150+ Kms away from country's capital. This place is naturally gifted with evergreen trees, high yielding cultivation lands and as always humble Thai population. The topography of this place is relatively like the areas of North East India especially Assam. In fact, the entire province of Kanchanaburi is immensely beautiful and closely resemble the topography of Assam which is my birthplace.

The lifestyle of the people here is quite remarkably simple and more importantly the people are extremely grounded and humble enough to guide you to their best way possible even if they don’t understand English. No wonder Thai people are known as the ambassadors of goodwill and charity.

The province of Kanchanaburi is surrounded with gorgeous looking natural spots to view the beauty of nature and filled with greenery everywhere. Kanchanaburi town is in West Thailand and is famous for its Death railway that was built during World War II. It has a tragic story wherein many workers and soldiers lost their lives during its construction and astonishingly it was built in just 17 days.

Places to explore in Kanchanaburi

Let’s talk about the places in and around Kanchanaburi and brief you the things you can do in there. 🙂

1. Train ride across the Death Railway Bridge.

2. Spend some relaxing time in and around River Kwai. I did notice some river activities as well.

3. Visit the war cemeteries.

4. Visit the walk over bridge on River Kwai.

4. Roam around the Elephant Sanctuary.

5. Erawan Falls is also a great tourist attraction.

My experience in Kanchanaburi

I personally feel that when you explore a new place, even a less popular spot can be of great importance. It all depends on an individual perspective. I have uploaded (Instagram, Facebook – Links below) some pictures clicked using my phone during our stay there.

Tham Krasae Bridge pictured above is also known as the lost section of the death railway. We can take a train from Kanchanaburi to Nam Tok to get the best natural beauty of this magnificent town and wonder and wander about how situations must have been during the world war. Apparently two trains will be available in a day which are generally used by tourists.

If someone wants to walk over the wooden bridge and tracks instead of a train ride, it is possible, and many tourists will do that. Even I made an unsuccessful attempt not realizing the fact that I am scared of heights and was unaware of the train timings. But honestly one should go ahead and do it keeping in mind the train timings and remembering that there is nothing to hold in either side of the railway tracks.

Moreover, the trains will move very slowly as the railway authorities are aware of tourists walking in the tracks to get a better view of this amazingly wonderful location.

If anyone could walk till the end, YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH (just kidding) you will see the Krasae Cave. You can spend time there. People who dont want to walk through the tracks or missed the train can take a rented cab to reach the other end i.e. Krasae Cave.

Budget

1500 Thai Baht for a day if you want to explore the whole of Kanchanaburi including rented taxi that is available at Kanchanaburi bus station and awesomely delicious food at 7-Eleven.

Hope that helps travel enthusiasts!!! Well Thailand has lot to offer if one knows the definition of exploring to the fullest

Let’s continue to swim for more knowledge and explore deeper in this journey. And please share your experiences so that me or anyone reading this blog gets more information.
